I would imagine it is a case of market forces, demand and supply, if there is little demand for manuals, that would probably drive up the price. Even though, as occasionally happens, I will come across a review of a vehicle in the US and AUS/NZ, for that matter that you will get a vehicle which is automatic only, where as in this market and even Europe as a whole, some models only come as manuals, or very few versions with auto as option, some not at all, in model, version, engine combinations.
