Blue Badge Scheme : Consultation on Eligibility

Anyone seen this consultation for Blue Badges ?

    https://www.gov.uk/government/consul...on-eligibility

I’ve filled out the form but had to make the remark that I have no faith in anything the government do anymore after the PiP farcical.

In the consultation they got the goals to ask should Blue Badge applicant who need assessing be assessed by an independent assessor who specialise in the disability the applicant has but not including their own GP.

“Not including their own GP”, so that’s why the DWP don’t take the slightest bit of notice of GP’s notes for PIP applicants and as far independent assessors go, where have we seen that before.

The government asked then do their own thing anyway.

Yas saw this in January, started a thread then:

Quite often, these seem to be: "well we asked for feedback, information...", then don't listen. But it has been one of the, 'we are not that bad', actions in recent months.

I look at this differently to Chrisk, the OP.
I had a nurse that the local authority uses/supplied to have the final say on my application, she saw my paperwork and decided an appointment assessment was not needed and that my condition ( severe COPD and less than 20 meters walk) warranted granting the blue badge.
As for GP involvement, I do not see a parallel to the situation in PIP, I see it as a way to avoid unnecessarily burdening the GP with more time consuming paperwork when it can simply be assessed by a qualified nurse.

I don’t really give a Monkey’s who assesses me as long as their qualified in my particular disability but it’s the any profession fits all aspect I don’t like. Just for the record and looking at the new proposals I automatically qualify for a BB anyway but I’m just putting two and two together here and looking at the way the PIP assessment are handle by whoever happens to be available on the day regardless what your disability is.

Going back to the GP bit, I’m thinking back to the day’s when your GP was your friend or someone who knows you very well and therefore would not want to upset you and would do anything to keep the peace, but may be your right, it’s to avoid overload of GP’s time but I was thinking how the government or local councils see it, and that’s is a friend has written a note so you can get a Blue Badge.
Sorry may be I’m too cynical.
