I would disagree with the person who said take short connecting flights. Surely MORE hassle of getting on/off - more chance of delays and more opportunity for your luggage to be lost and delayed. But definitely definitely book assistance and book it early, and check a few day before you are due to fly!!

I often use Jet2 flights, their assistance is brilliant from arriving at the airport to assigning you seats and disembarking. Standard seating has plenty of legroom too. I always need assistance so book it in advance so my seating is assured as is the ambulift.
In fact I have just booked a Jet2 holiday for early next year, never been on one of their holidays before. Rung the assistance line, ambulift arranged, got my seats and a ground floor disabled room with walk in shower at the hotel confirmed.
Their staff are so understanding and helpful. Just can't fault them.
