    Pride comes before a fall - a well known saying. Swallow it and get a scooter or wheelchair. You will be amazed at how much more independence it will give you.
    Surely the benefit will be that your pain may be reduced..

    I thought the same when I had to use a walking frame from a young age but came round to thinking "What the hell, I have a life to live to the best of my ability" I use the frame now without a 2nd thought and enjoy life.
