    Motability Operations Profits

    Hi All

    Did anyone else see this?

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...-7million.html

I was rather appalled at the profits that they make off the back of the motability scheme personally now they should lower the advance payments substantially!!!!

Any organisation, including a charity, needs some reserves. But two and a half billion! Motability should focus on it's customers and offer lower advance payments.

I put a reply in this thread at 2-15 PM and it’s disappeared, I hope I haven’t upset anyone but will say it’s a shame posts from spammers can’t be taken down as fast.

Back to this thread again and the point I was making about Motability profits is that most of us pay an AP to upgrade our cars to make them more suitable for our disabilities for an example auto gearbox, auto parking etc but when the car is sold back to the dealer the upgrade cost goes straight into Motability profits as they only paid for a base model car.

I always thought that this money was used to lower the cost of a new car or adaption’s but with profits like that, I’m not so sure.

There is also an interesting thread on this subject on Whichmobility forum. Much about where the money should go, inlcuding things such as, people applying for grants to assist them with getting a vehicle suitable for them and paying the AP, or for adaptations, access to auto gearboxes etc.

Disregarding the payments to the directors. The money was put aside to cope with unforseen circumstances, while I am not on the scheme, it is good to see that some MP's have commented that the money was to help the motorists, who needed help from the scheme, not just keep constantly build up reserves.

I also had a post go missing from this thread - but whatever the Admin have changed does seem to have defeated the spam - for now.

As said before stricter anti-spam measures can/do have an imact on genuine posting, it's a balancing act.
I don't know everything. - But I'm good at searching for, and finding, stuff.

Please excuse my grammar, I have a brain injury.

Mobility cars has created a perfect business model, now the press and MP's are slagging them off and the green eyed MP's who are virtually incapable of trying their own shoe laces are eyeing up the £2.5 billion surplus and the directors wages, pot calling the kettle black, the MP's should look at themselves. The mobility director would probably be better at running the country than the MP's ?.

They do not go back to government for handout like so called like Carilion, Capita etc. to name just a few who are only interested in their shareholders ?

Mobility has provided use with mobility cars, some with specialist adaptations, creating an industry around them, who else would do this for us, no company would lease cars with the same terms and condition, especially without a credit background check.

Would any private company adapt your car for the price you pay on mobility.

Mobility has no shareholder to pay offer their employees a very good working environment, but still manage to lease us cars for £58.00 including Insurance, servicing, breakdown etc.

When the government cut PIP, mobility put measures in place to help.

I have no interested in the director's wages, to me they seem to be doing an excellent job and being rewarded for success.

So thankyou mobility you are doing a great job.

    Rant over

I've got to agree with you Oscarmax.

I spent 20 years on the Motability scheme and can honestly say they are the best Firm I ever dealt with.

The Daily Mail keep harping on about Motability being a Charity, what they don't mention is that Motability Operations is a limited Company.

Yes its motability operations with the huge cash reserves as for other companies leasing with the same conditions yes you can!

My trouble with motability is its monopoly and I wish the ap prices would now come down as a result of the article. For the record I was on the scheme for 10 yrs but left 4 yrs ago as 2.0 mpv were too expensive

The danger is that some cynics could say the Mobility award is set too high if these figures are banded about.
