PIP reconcider asked for...All benefits are being taken away 20th March!

Hello, This is Carly`s sister asking a question for her. She had a face to face to transfer to pips last month ( I was with her), and she has been on high rate DLA and high rate carers allowance since 2006 I think? On and off she has had some hiccups with decisions made but they have always been resolved and her due benefits reinstated. This time the results of her face to face have come back with (wait for it) ZERO points! So they are stopping all disability payments and carers payments on 20th March. She is distressed to say the least, and it is affecting her mental state severely. We have asked for a reconcideration (obligatory) and then the next stage will be the appeal if the reconcideration fails. She has a blue badge which is essential for her mobility needs and this will be taken, She has a car which, if it had been a mobility car it would be taken back, so we are thankful that she chose to have her own car..which we questioned at the time. We are now glad that she went against our advice. The question is..will she still carry on being paid while an appeal is ongoing, or will they stop payments & invalidate her blue badge until appeal has been heard? Thank you for any advice in advance. Margaret ( Carly`s sister)

I think you have to inform the council or whom ever issued the badge stating this change in circumstances, pip payment will stop after the date of the assessment

The council will need the blue badge back if it's been given because she had high rate mobility, then she'll need to reapply for it on medical grounds which might mean a medical with an OT - private one contracted to the council at a centre (that's what happens here) and they won't consider her for one if she has excluding conditions (the excluding conditions tend to vary so you'll need to look at the form for those, my council for example won't allow one for mental health issues or learning disabilities or problems which they deem to be temporary or fixable so arthritis is excluded unless joints have been replaced and physio done for over twelve months) even though you can get high rate mobility for those conditions.

She won't get pay until a decision is reached where she qualifies (it's back pay for pip) and carers can't be claimed during appeal period.

Appeals take a varying amount of time as do mandetory reconsiderations.
