    dla to pip

    hi, all
got the letter early on this wk for dla to pip
only been to see my gp a few times like when I have been discharged from hosp over the last few yrs,

have a long list of probs , the consultants & gp's all say theirs nothing more they can do so discharge me, ie no follow up appointments etc except for diabetic/eye check ups
when I went for ib/esa to dla etc always had a doctor/ interview they never asked to look at the xrays, ' maybe they just do the same'

about 10yrs ago I paid 60 quid for my medical notes and all I got was my urine output & temp reports and a few xrays never got any notes of any my diagnoses or ops after trying many times

    any advice welcome

Have a word with your GP, a charge for a written report most likely but well worth it.

Our GP practice has a notice up advising that we don't need an appointment for PiP applications as they don't provide letters.

Have you not kept any letters of your conditions?

From what others have reported it isn't easy to get PiP so as much proof as you have is needed.
If you have carers send them a copy of your care plan with your application form.
    Good luck x

i feel sorry for you , i have just gone through this process, which had me in tears, the DR provided a letter that had all my problems on and Atos used it against me in every way possible, even saying there was nothing wrong with my legs and my arms as i hand not seen the Dr over the past year with problems, despite sitting in a wheel chair when the lying assessor arrived,
The assessor tried to cause an argument as soon as she arrived saying all the paper work and reports were not relevant , this is so she can walk out and not do the assessment , and you will have to apply again, whilst having your DLA removed,
Make sure you have an independent witness as i did to back me up , the whole process is set against you from start to finish , despite me providing proof that i had an industrial accident which damaged my legs, have stage 3 heart failure , use a wheel chair , the house has been modified to suite my needs , i was turned down , and then had to fight to get the full award , which i did i got full rate care and full rate mobility , without the support of the MP , my GP , and specialists , i would not have got it back , it is one hell of a journey you are on ,i wish you all the luck in the world,
oh and watch out for her showing her Badge as that is an eye test, if you pick up a mobile phone that is part of a test and loads of other tricks used to try and get you off DLA , i never got out of my wheelchair in all of this , i have stage 3 heart failure at rest i am fine but on exertion i get breathless very easy , so the line in the Atos report stated i was not breathless so theirfore i did not have heart faiulre and i had borrowed the wheel chair that the hospitial had given me,
    good luck

My GP refused to do a letter at all saying reports were always requested. They refused even if I offered to pay. The only thing they would give was a list of conditions which isn't any use as its about how conditions effect you everyday.

I am being hounded over ESA (every three months I'm getting an ESA50 to fill in, so no break) and I sent a letter they'd done for that, along with proof of my prescriptions.

My form was about 30 pages typed in the end. They did send a form to fill out to my GP which they were livid about as literally the only questions were was I seen in GP surgery at all and if I could get to a centre (with no indication of where our centre is - it's in another county). No room for anything else. They're still not allowed to do letters because they had a memo saying PIP is patient specific so generic letters are a waste of time.

My extension to send the form back was rejected, so get it confirmed in writing if you ask for one.

It took over seven months but I got enhanced care and standard mobility with no medical and though my GP says I should have enhanced mobility I'm not well enough to face challenging the decision. They say they'll reassess in three years but I don't believe that given my ESA experience.

Hi Bekki, if you got a 3 year award they'll re-assess you in about 2yrs time.

My Autistic son has his DLA to PIP face to face assessment on the 23rd, if it's as bad as mine was (same assessment centre) I won't be happy at all.

I really can't understand why they feel the need to waste money by keeping re-assessing someone with a life long condition that's never going to change. There's no treatment or medication for it so what's the point?, well apart from keeping themselves in work of course but that would just be me being cynical!.

I simply don't believe they'll stick to that given my ESA experience, the PIP letter says reassessment anytime after March 2021 but as I've had ESA letters saying the same to get a ESA50 within days of the award.

They get paid a lot for assessments, and there's bonuses for targets - there's a letter on another forum I use from ATOS which references bonuses for meeting targets despite dwp saying there are none.

What I don't understand is how there are still people claiming incapacity benefit when people like me are being reassessed four times a year!

Not always the case, maybe your 3 year award is enough to signify to them that you are genuine and your case is proven? I think a lot of it is specific to location as well, some areas are review heavy, some a lot less frequent.
I got ESA support group in Sep 2012 and not heard anything since, PIP not long after with enhanced mobility and standard care and again, not a peep since.

I doubt it. I had esa support group first time for three years, most people have died from my condition by my age, which they've been told, yet since I won an ESA appeal (including since getting the pip) I've had constant reassessment for ESA, like every couple of months, both MP and GP have complained due to the impact on my mental health - the response? I could have learnt to manage my condition enough to work.

There are people in my area still on incapacity benefit - there's no reason to reassess me other than to bully.

    Sorry for the slight derail!

Every case is different i went onto esa support group from IB and was told it was for 3yrs on the phone never got a letter saying 3yrs that was 6yrs ago and had nothing since. I did the dla to pip last yr i had been on dla hr mobility only i only sent in a letter listing all my conditions at that time and the effects from my GP and a typed sheet i did have how i do things etc i got an home visit though i'd not asked for one the report focused on my lesser health issues and some things were wrong she didn't look at any of my med notes i had or my adaptions etc i got standard on both till 2020 but it says it'll be sent out the year before, my conditions are terminal my GP wanted me to appeal but i was ok with what they gave me. If you can get a letter summoning up your conditions and it's effects from your GP then do, just be honest and see how it goes if you don't get an award or one you aren't happy with you can appeal, Like i said everyone as their own experience goodluck with your assesment dla to pip i hope it goes ok maybe go to CAB to get help filling it out
