    Old benefits to UC

Does anyone know if managed migration to Universal credit will make those in ESA Support Group need a reassessment?
    Thanks

Migration to UC does not in itself trigger a reassessment.

This is written in law and has been for a number of years.
The Universal Credit (Transitional Provisions) Regulations 2014 - Regulation 19 (see below).

Athough the UC staff have been getting it wrong in the past. (Because they were poorly trained as usual).
The UC staff did not understand how ESA worked, and what things like 'Prognosis Date' actually meant.
The systems between ESA and UC were also inadequate and information about your LCW/LCWRA status was taking a long time to get from ESA to UC.

These issues have (mostly) been corrected, and new handover procedures put in place in the run-up to Managed Migration, which starts in Harrogate in July.

So what should happen is that your existing reassessment date (Prognosis Date) simply gets transfered into UC and stays the same.

Of course there are always going to be a few people who are due for a reassessment anyway at about the same time as they are migrating.
    Coincidences do happen.

If you want to see the legal bit it can be found in this post:

That post talks mainly about Natural Migration, but the same law applies to Managed migration.
