    Ford Galaxy

I'm sure I read on this forum a while ago that someone had taken a Ford Galaxy through motability.

I have been thinking about going for a galaxy once my current lease runs out at the end of November but am having real difficulties finding a Ford dealer that holds one in stock for me to go and look at. I have tried the five nearest Ford dealers to me and have even asked if they have a used vehicle on the forecourt just so that I can have a sit in it to try driving position etc, but with no luck whatsoever. One salesman that I spoke to even told me to just look on Autotrader to see if I could find a private sale near me so that I could pretend I was interested so I could go and have a look!

If anyone on here does have a galaxy, can I ask if they had similar problems, and if so, how did they get around it?

Hi Kine, give the Ford Motability Team a ring 0345 60 400 19, hopefully they can organise a test drive.

    Thanks 7,

Took your advice and now have a viewing and test drive arranged for later this afternoon.

Wow ! I'm impressed , the Ford dedicated team couldn't do better if they tried.

Hopefully you can view this thread before you view the impressive Galaxy :

Thanks for that link Number7, it was really interesting and also provided some great information.

I had a really good viewing and test drive this afternoon at Allen Ford in Coventry. I loved the car and found it really easy to get in and out of. I think that it may be the car for me but am going to have a think about it for the next couple of days, just to make sure I am certain.

Leaving the Dealer/Salesman to stew is a good idea, they may even get back to you offering some incentive or other ?

Here is another Galaxy thread that may interest you :

    Good luck whatever you decide

    Thanks again 7.

    Makes interesting reading.

I hadn't thought about the possibility that the salesman might offer a sweetener if I didn't rush back but it's got to be a possibility.

I did ask at the time about vehicle colour and was told that there is a choice of about four or five with no extra charge and then another three specials that do incur extra charges, but have since read in the brochure that any colour apart from the standard blue does incur a charge, with some being a lot more than others.

Maybe I might try and do a bit of bargaining to get a colour change free of charge if I was to go ahead. I could always try the 'been offered a better deal' one.

The guys over on the Which Mobility Car know their stuff so be sure to ask about Ford Galaxy discounts on their Forums.

I suspect you'll be allowed any metallic colour free of charge through the Motability scheme ?

I'm a little vague on the workings of Motability (I left the Motability Scheme 5 years ago).

Hopefully other members can supply definitive advice re the colour choices.

Hi. Regarding discounts some dealers might offer a discount or probably throw in free floor mats. It's best to approach the motability specialist and ask. Don't limit yourself to your local dealer. You can approach a ford dealership in neighbouring cities. You can purchase the car from a different city and have the serviced at your local dealer.

For motability customer solid and metallic colours are free. Pearlescent paint is extra.

I had a 2.0 TDI powershift titanium which I loved.
