16 yr old who lacks capacity and no colleage will take him. Is he on the scrap heap?

    Hi,
My nephew left school this year. He was in a SEN school. He transferred over from DLA to EDL and EM PIP due to capacity and his mother his is appointee.

After trying to find him a college it appears none will take him and also they can't find an apprenticeship either. His old SEN school say they he's no longer their problem as he has left school.

Right now his parents get CB and CTC for him but that will now stop as they can't find a course for him.

The parents did receive a letter from the DWP asking about his plans in May and as they expected him to go to college they stated that. However they have now received another letter from the DWP asking for the details of what he is doing.

My 1st question is will the DWP ask for everything back from MAY to now?

and secondly apart from UC what can they (or he) do?

Is he really just left to rot at 16 because he lacks capacity? If this is the case what a shit show

Have you contacted the local education authority?
It did used to be the case that educational support should be there for SEN youngsters until they were 25 but that may have changed now, however, the local education authority might still be able to suggest something?
I hope you manage to find something for him, it's a disgrace that he seems to have been cast out on a limb with no support.
