    Phoning DWP

    Hello everyone

Thought I'd post about my recent experience when phoning the DWP on their 0800 169 0310 telephone number.

The automated voice now asks even more questions for security than my previous experience just a couple of months ago.

It asked for my national insurance number, (which I had to hand) but then surprisingly asked for my bank sort code and the last four numbers of my bank account - which I did not have to hand.

So my advice is if you need to phone the DWP have your bank details to hand as you may well be asked for these by the automated voice in order to pass security.

    Hello,

I warned people about this a couple of weeks ago on here, but will add if you can’t remember the last digits of your bank account number just say “don’t know” they still took my call.

I must admit I haven’t looked at the bank account number on my statements for years so cannot remember it.
