    Thanks Flymo.
Can a 16 year old going to sixth form college (gets DLA) claim this?

The funding arrangements of a sixth form course make it impossible to meet the definition of student in the ESA Regulations. Up until its abolition, sixth formers could get EMA if they met the criteria, but that has now disappeared. Off the top of my head, I don't know if there are any benefits a disabled sixth-former can claim other than DLA or PIP.

If it's any consolation, Income Related ESA for students rarely amounts to much, as their grant and loan entitlements are counted as income for ESA purposes even if the student elects not to take up their full loan entitlement.
